Ken signed for Glynneath in 1968 and played in every season until 1991 - twenty-three years unbroken service to the club. Many thought Ken to be one of the best players produced by Glynneath of this period but perhaps through work commitments he never made the leap into Welsh League football - their loss, our gain. Having captained the team for several seasons he proved to be the mainstay to the team for many years and if his best position was midfield he was just as comfortable playing centre-back or centre forward.
While Ken played an important role in the 'Treble' team of the mid eighties perhaps his greatest personal achievement was to score eight goals in one game...however!
Bob Smith (current Neath League Secretary, then playing for Coedffranc in the 1970s) informs that Ken should have laid claim to all nine goals scored by Glynneath in a 9 - 7 victory up at Glynneath. Bob, having himself scored all the Coedffranc goals tells the story that all the Coedffranc players acknowledged the novelty of just two players scoring the goals in such an high scoring match. Although Ken may have had the final touch to that ninth goal, sporting as ever, the goal was credited to another Glynneath player./FONT>
