| Leighton first signed for Glynneath in the late 1970s and continued to play for the club well into the mid 1990s. A keen marathon runner, often recording times under 2 hours 45 minutes, perhaps his greatest attribute was his all round team performance. Having served the club as Treasurer and captained both the first and second team his best position was at full-back but he also proved to be just as competitive when selected in midfield.
